Bally Technologies is a true pioneer in the production of slot machines. The world of gaming would certainly look different without their contributions and inventions. Their history goes back to 1932 when they launched their first pinball game called Ballyhoo, from where they derived the company name. They started developing the first mechanical slot machines in the late 1930s. Bally went on to become the dominant supplier of slot machines with a 90% share of the world market in the late 1960s. The first electromechanical slot was introduced in 1964.
Throughout the next decades the publicly-traded company changed owners several times. In 1996, it was acquired by Alliance Gaming in a hostile takeover. Bally was organized as three divisions within the Alliance Gaming Group – Bally Gaming, which made slot machines, Bally Systems, which made casino accounting and management systems, and Bally Wulff, the earlier acquired German game provider. Bally Gaming and Systems were combined into a single unit in 1998, while Bally Wulff was divested in 2003 in a push to unload non-core assets. The current name Bally Technologies was adopted in 2006.
Nearly two decades after the hostile takeover from Alliance Gaming, Scientific Games Corporation bought the company in 2014 to become the fourth brand in their portfolio alongside SG Interactive, Shuffle Master and WMS. Today, their largest focus is still on the land based casino industry with their gaming cabinets being present in virtually every bigger casino around the world. The internet age saw many of their popular as well as new slot creations being launched on the online platform of Scientific Games, called SG Interactive. Today the company is based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Bally is known for state-of-the-art enertaining games, many with localized progressive jackpots that regularly pay out high five-figure sums. Crisp graphics and stunning animations are coupled with innovative pay mechanics and exciting bonus features. Some of their most populars slots to date are Quick Hit Platinum, Fireball, Mayan Treasures, Money Wheel, Pharaoh’s Dream and Shadow Diamond.
