Candy Cashcades is a cascading grid slot with an 8×8 format and cluster pays. Wins are awarded for clusters of five or more matching symbols, connected horizontally and/or vertically anywhere on the grid. The paytable is rather short with just six candy symbols in different shapes and colours – orange, purple, green, blue, red and a pink Sugar Rush heart. Blueprint Gaming is slowly inching its way into the cascading grid slot genre, a space currently dominated by the likes of Push Gaming and Play’n GO. Candy Cashcades is after the highly volatile Dragon Fall and the progressive Alien Antix creation the third grid slot within 2020. They do share a lot of commonalities but differ significantly in the bonus round.

Core to the gameplay is, as usual, the cascading symbol mechanic. At the start of every spin sequence, 64 symbols will tumble onto the grid with the aim to land clusters of 5 to 25 matching symbols landing vertically and/or horizontally adjacent or in combination with wild symbols. Any winning cluster will collapse, making room for new symbols to fall into place. The spin sequence will continue until no new winning clusters land after a fresh cascade, potentially leading to multiple winners within one round.

One or more Colossal symbols can magically appear once no new wins occur after a cascade. They are huge chocolate bombs in a minimum 2×2 size and will land on a random position before transforming all symbols they cover into a common pay symbol except wilds.

Key to scoring mega wins as well as triggering the main feature are the lollipop wilds. If one is part of a winning cluster in a cascade, it will not collapse with the regular pay symbols but move to an adjacent vacant position prior to the next symbol cascade within the same sequence. They will then be held in place while new symbols tumble onto the grid to potentially help to create more winning clusters.

The kicker is though the attached unlimited multiplier. It starts at x1 and increases by +1 every time a wild is part of a winning cluster. The increased multiplier is applied if a new winning cluster drops into place on the next cascade that contains the wild. Multipliers from different lollipops are multiplied by each other. The multiplier will not increase if the wild lollipops are not part of a winning cluster but they will stay in position until the end of the spin sequence. In the base game and free spins, they will be removed between spins and the multiplier is reset to x1.

Having three or more lollipop wilds in view at the end of a spin sequence will trigger 8 Free Sugar Rush Win Falls which are basically free spins and cannot be retriggered. At least one Colossal Symbol will appear on every free spin once no more wins occur after a cascade, guaranteeing at least one winning cluster. Plus, the lollipop wilds can land too with the progressive multiplier increasing similar to the base game.

Final Verdict

Blueprint Gaming has toned it down substantially after the highly volatile Dragon Fall. A major part of that is due to the guaranteed wins in the Sugar Rush feature, which will result in some sort of acceptable payout for each bonus round. Overall, a well-designed slot with ample entertainment and win potential.
