Review
Once Isis ascends from the Ancient Egyptian vaults, she will bring wealth and fortune upon you on the slot from Novomatic. The Egyptian goddess of life and magic will expand to her full height to grace the reels and upgrade symbols, add extra free spins and create more chances to hit wins of up to 160 times your bet. That is of course not the limit for this game as it comes with four jackpots, two of them being progressive that can go into medium to high 5-figure sums. The same slot is also available without the progressive jackpots under the name of Ancient Goddess.
Slot Details
Goddess Rising is a video slot with five reels, four rows and 40 fixed lines with pays being awarded from left to right only. You can encounter the goddess on mobile or desktop from 0.50 to 5 credits per spin. The RTP of this high variance game is set at a flat 95%, which is not unusual for Novomatic games.
Graphics and Visuals
Open the slot to find the usual Novomatic simplicity as they are not known for elaborate graphics. Isis flanks the golden ornamented game window with the four jackpot displays towering on top. The often used Egyptian deities and icons feature prominently on the reels. The sounds are the well-known Novomatic reel and win count noises.
Pay Symbols
The low-value symbols are the forever used card royals from J to A while at the high end you will find the common icons attributed to Egyptian mythology. In ascending order they are scarab beetles, whips, feathers, Horus, Anubis and pharaohs. Pays for a single five of a kind range from 0.70 to 4x your stake.
Isis is the wild symbol appearing on reels two, three and four only and substituting for all other symbols except bonus scatters. She will expand to cover the entire reel when she is part of a winning combo and can also randomly trigger the jackpot bonus game. Scatters are an intricate golden tile depicting the eye of Horus.
The Jackpot Bonus Game
Goddess Rising comes with four jackpots, Mini and Minor are fixed at 5x and 20x your bet while Major and Grand are progressive. They are seeded at 400 and 5,000 credits respectively with a fixed percentage of each bet contributing to them. Expect the Grand to go regularly to medium 5-figure sums.
Any Isis wild landing on a spin can randomly trigger the jackpot bonus game. You will be presented with 12 coins under which three coloured gems for each jackpot are hidden. You can pick now one coin at a time until you reveal three matching gems to win the respective jackpot.
The Isis Free Spins Feature
Three or more scattered bonus symbols landing on a spin will trigger 12 free spins. Additionally, they will award coins wins of 2x, 10x and 100x your bet for three, four and five scatters respectively. During the feature, one, two or three wild appearing on a free spin will award one, three and five extra free spins, no limits.
The kicker in the free spins are the symbol upgrades. Any wild landing on a free spin will not just grant extra spins but also upgrade the high-value symbols starting with the feather symbol until only the top-paying Pharaoh symbol and card royals are left on the reels, plus of course wilds and scatters. The best chance to hit the maximum win on a single spin with a full screen of Pharaohs.
Final Verdict
To be honest, I am slightly disappointed with this Novomatic creation. While the progressive jackpots look enticing and are certainly worth chasing once they reach a sizeable amount, the win potential in the standard gameplay is at best mediocre. There are other similar slots from this provider where you can win more than 10 times in a single spin than on Goddess Rising.
