The Tiki Vikings sailed as far as the Pacific Ocean, probably on the first ever offered package holiday tour, and visited the exotic Hawaiian islands. Dressed in typical Polynesian style with flowers in their facial air, they just moored their ship filled with Tiki poles and surfboards on the shores of their home. Also in their baggage are Symbol Lock Respins and Symbol Upgrade features that can lead to wins of up to 300 times your bet.

Slot Details

Tiki Vikings is a video slot offered exclusively on Microgaming’s Quickfire platform with five reels, three rows and 20 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for three to five matching symbols on a line from left to right only. It is available for play on desktop and mobile from 0.10 to 250 credits per spin. The low-variance game has an RTP of 96% (unconfirmed).

The creative team at JFTW went to great length to bring us a fusion of the serene Polynesian culture and the wild barbarian style so typical of the Vikings. Still revelling in their holiday memories, the three protagonists wear either palm leaves around their waist, sandals with socks (typical for Scandinavians on holidays) or flip-flops.

Open the game to find the card suits from J through to A in Tiki style at the low end of the pay table. They are followed by three hilarious Vikings with flowers in their dark, blonde and red hair as well as the slot logo. The latter is the most valuable with 15x your stake for a single five of a kind or 300x stake for a full screen. There are no wilds or scatters on this game.

Tiki Vikings Slot Features

Not much to report about features as the slot as neither a bonus game nor a free spins round. Instead, JFTW opted for two spin features that will enhance your wins when they trigger. Mind you though, the maximum you can win in one spin or respin sequence is a mere 300 times bet, not really worthy of those wild Vikings who would bring home vast treasures from their pillaging tours. Maybe they rested during their Hawaiian holiday which could explain the low payouts.

The two feature are interconnected and you will need to first trigger the Symbol Lock Respins. This happens when a winning combination of either of the three Vikings or the slot logo lands on a spin. The winning symbols are locked in place and respins retriggered as a long as new matching symbols land on a respin or the entire screen is filled.

Every time the respin is retriggered you will see the Tiki pole on the left of the game window lighting up. One step is added to the meter on each occurrence, triggering the Symbol Upgrade once the meter has filled up. All locked symbols will now be upgraded to the next higher-value symbol up to the Tiki Vikings slot logo, which will increase your total win. Evaluations are done and payouts awarded after the respin sequence has ended.

Final Verdict

While the Vikings had guts and no fear, it looks like the Swedish game studio has not inherited those virtues. While Tiki Vikings comes across as a humorous take on the Norse warriors, it can’t hide the fact that the payouts are extremely low. You will need to trigger the features repeatedly in quick succession to end up with a significant profit from the slot.
