Merkur Gaming was founded in 2005 by German giant Gauselmann Group, first as the international sales and development brand for creating slots, games and cabinets. Merkur is a widely known and leading provider in Germany for entertainment arcades and gambling halls but has since expanded its footprint to become a global powerhouse. Gauselmann Group itself is one of the major players in the entertainment and gaming industry with worldwide over 12,500 employees and a yearly turnover exceeding EURO2.9 Billion. Later on, Gauselmann Group bundled the activities for online gaming products within Merkur Gaming.
With a parent company history of over 50 years in the industry, Merkur Gaming is most known for producing high-quality games with state-of-the-art graphics and animations as well as high volatility and mega win potential. Their games were first found in pubs and arcades followed by a wide spread appearance on casino floors. Their focus has been always multi-game systems where players could sit down on huge HD screens and play a variety of games with the same money balance.
Online, Merkur Gaming was in the first years something of an insider’s tip. Although they had amassed a large following from their land based games, they allowed at first only a small selection of hand-picked casino operators to list their games. The calls to extend their footprint to more online casinos grew louder and today their catalogue of over 150 games such as Eye of Horus or 221 Baker Street can be found at a large variety of operators such as Mr. Green, LadyLucks, playOJO and Energy Casino.
Merkur has one of the most versatile gaming platforms in the market, ranging from three-reel classics to five-reel video slots. Among the classics, Double Triple Chance has become a players’ favourite with multiple chances to hit mega wins.
Hit slots among the five-reelers include the Halloween-themed Night of the Werewolf, Burning Heat and the football-themed Gold Cup. The latter proving especially popular among the slot-playing football fans. Although bare of any bonus features and with only five fixed pay lines, it comes with sky-high line pays of up to 5,000x the stake.
