World leading gaming software provider Microgaming is probably the true pioneer in online gaming. Founded in the early nineties, they went on to launch what is known to be the first ever full online casino, The Gaming Club, which to this day still operates using Microgaming software. The Isle of Man-based company is today one of the most recognized brands in the global gaming community and one of the few big players in the market.
There seemed to be no stopping them in the first decade as online gaming turned into a multi-billion industry. However, the closure of the US market in 2006 due to passing of new online gambling laws, represented their first and probably only big stumbling block as they were heavily focused on the US.
