The pay mechanic with cascading symbols used on Imperial Riches is known at NetEnt as the Avalanche feature. Symbols fall from the top at the start of a spin sequence and any winning combos will disappear to make room for new symbols to drop into place. This continues until now new wins occur after an avalanche. Bonus scatters will stay on the screen but will move to the bottom if symbols underneath them are removed. All wins are accumulated and paid at the end of a spin sequence.
