Slot Details
Little Bighorn is a video slot with a 3-4-5-3-2 format and 360 ways to win as default. Pays are awarded for three to five matching symbols landing on adjacent reels from left to right only. Available on desktop, tablet and mobile, you can bet from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The game has extreme volatility (10/10) with a hit rate of roughly 1:3 spins and a default RTP of 96.06%. Lower models are offered at 94.09% or 92.11%.
A view of the wide plaines of the American West is opening up when you load the game. All held in dark tones with a cloudy sky coloured by the setting sun. The game area is just as dark which might not be to everyone’s liking. A range of chieftains and army personalities from the era dominate the reels to a suspenseful tribal soundtrack.
The pay symbols start at the low end with knife, pistol, batton, rifle and tomahawk, awarding 1x to 1.25x your bet for a single five of a kind. They are followed by Two Moons, Captain Miles Keogh, Crazy Horse, Lt Colonel Custer and Sitting Bull. Hit five across the reels to win 1.5x to 3.75x your stake. The game has a range of wilds, substituting for all regular symbols and also yielding 3.75x for five while a totem acts as the scatter. A No Mercy scatter can appear on reel five only.

Little Bighorn Slot Features
Nolimit City has stormed the iGaming barn quite a few times in the past, releasing some of the best titles to hit online casino lobbies over the last years, including Tombstone R.I.P. and San Quentin. While the success is commendable, the series of blockbusters puts pressure on the creative team to outdo themselves with each following release. Anything less is considered a doozy. So, let’s take a closer look where Little Bighorn ends up.
Before getting on your horse to ride into the Wild West, you can choose whether to activate the Scalp xBet feature. Enabling this mode will increase your stake size by 50% and guarantee a Totem scatter symbol on reel two with every spin. Overall, it should make it easier to trigger the Free Spins, but there is no guarantee that it will happen, thus, some caution is recommended.
The gameplay seems to be busy most of the time, even when it ends up being just animations. The main reason are the various wilds. Any time one or two Totem scatters land on reels two, three or four, they will turn into Expanding Wilds. Next, is the xMount: Scalp Wild which can appear on the centre reel only. When it does, it will nudge into full view and turn all soldier symbols into wilds. For each nudge, the multiplier on the soldier wilds increases by x1.
The third wild is not immediately apparent as you will need to land first a No Mercy scatter on reel five to trigger the Spirit Call Respin. The scatter will move to reel one and reveal one of the three chieftains before starting a respin. The revealed character and all matching symbols turn into wilds, which can be again different based on the character. Worth noting is that the No Mercy scatters counts a single symbol only during the feature.
- Two Moons: Turns all matching symbols on reels two to five into standard Wilds
- Crazy Horse: Turns all matching symbols landing on the respin into wilds and adds a +1 multiplier for each transformed symbol
- Sitting Bull: Turns all matching symbols into expanding wilds.
Landing three Totem scatters on reels two to four will trigger 8 Scalp Free Spins. Any appearing during the feature, will retrigger +1 spin, no limits. The xMount Scalp Wild will increase the win multiplier by x1 for each scalped character without resetting. Any accrued multipliers on the symbols will apply for the remaining free spins. Hit a No Mercy scatter on reel five to upgrade to the Spirit Call Free Spins and get +2 additional spins.
Hitting the No Mercy scatter on reel five in addition to the three Totem scatters in the base game will award instantly the 10 Spirit Call Free Spins. Again, any Totem scatter appearing will award +1 spin. The xMount Scalp Wild multipliers are now complemented with the No Mercy scatter moving to reel one and revealing a chieftain on each free spin. Depending on the revealed character, the Wild modifier is applied like in the base game.
Nolimit City has included again an array of Bonus Buy options, ranging from 77x to 490x your stake. The cheapest will trigger 8 Scalp Free Spins, while spending 490x your bet will get you 10 Spirit Call Free Spins. Alternatively, you can pick a Lucky Draw Bonus Buy for 159.50x bet, that will award one of the two features with odds at 80:20. All Bonus Buys have a slightly higher RTP than default.
Final Verdict
Well, there you go, blockbuster or doozy? My verdict is somewhere in between. While Little Bighorn has its bright moments, most of the gameplay is not really engaging. Too often do the various wild modifiers end in useless animations with payouts either zero or negliblible. The high hit rate compounds the impression that the modifiers are more about animations than actually delivering decent wins. A lower hit rate would have been maybe the better choice, instead it starts frustrating players.
The two bonus features make up some of the lost ground but are not elevating Little Bighorn into the big league of blockbuster slots. Especially the standard Scalp Free Spins often end with disappointing wins while most of the potential is crammed into the top feature, which we know from previous experience on Nolimit slots is very hard to trigger.
