Review
Get ready for a hilarious ride during the reel rush hour on the slot from Nolimit City. Road Rage brings five chaotic drivers to a set of five reels with up to 259 connecting win ways, wild cars with different modifiers, respins and three Free Spins modes that start with a Rage Buff to collect extras and can lead to wins of up to 36,000 times your bet.
Slot Details
Road Rage is a video slot with five reels, three rows and 99 connecting pay ways. The format can increase up to a 5×5 size with maximum 259 ways. Wins are awarded for three to five matching symbols landing connected on consecutive reels starting from the left only. You can join the road mayhem on desktop, tablet or mobile from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The game has high volatility (8/10), a hit rate of roughly 1:4 spins and a default RTP of 96.03%. Lower models at 94.16% and 92.17% are offered, always check the help file for the current setting.
The pay symbols start at the low end with mirrors, mobile phones, air freshener trees, flat tires and coffee cups, awarding 0.5x to 1.5x your bet for a single five of a kind. They are followed by the five chaos characters on blue, purple, green, brown and red backgrounds. Hit five on a connecting pay way to win 2x to 5x your stake. Three cars in green, yellow and red are the wilds, activating a range of modifiers when they land and substituting for all regular symbols. Lastly, a traffic light acts as the scatter.

Road Rage Slot Features
We all got so used to see slots from Nolimit City to feature at least one of their signature x-mechanics as included on The Rave or Folsom Prison. There are none on Road Rage, making it an interesting discovery tour to find out what the creative team can come up with when not using the tradmarked x-mechanics.
As expected with a road mayhem-themed slot, cars have an outsized role in the gameplay and will be core to scoring big and mega wins. The line pays are rather low, so having a Wild Car appear can potentially increase it significantly by activating a series of modifiers based on the colour of the car:
- Yellow Car – Engine Breakdown: Increases the symbol size by 1 for each on its reel and stays wild in its landing position.
- Red Car – Drive By: Drives from right to left from its landing spot and increases the symbol size by 1 on each in the same row. Plus, it will leave a wild in its start and stop position.
- Green Car – Drive By: Drives from left to right from its landing spot and increases the symbol size by 1 on each in the same row. Plus, it will leave a wild in its start and stop position.
More than one car can land simultaneously. The effects of the respective modifiers will be then combined, further increasing the symbol multipliers. The Colliding Cars feature triggers when Red and Green Cars drive towards each other on the same row and there is an odd number of symbols between them. The multipliers from each car are added together and shown on the Colliding Wild that is created in the position. Filling the screen with wilds is possible and would instantly lead to the Ghost Rider outro with the maximum payout of 36,000x.
On to the main rush hour chaos. Landing two scatters only on any spin in the base game will trigger a respin. You will get one free respin with guaranteed Wild Cars to land on the scatter reels, activating their respective modifiers. In turn, hitting three, four or five scatters will award 6 Morning Rush Spins, 8 H1ghway Jam Spins and 10 City Mayh3m Spins respectively.
Before the start of any of the three rounds, you will enter the Rage Buff where you can pick up extra spins and higher multipliers. Based on the feature trigger with three, four or five scatters, a grid with 3, 4 and 5 rows respectively will appear. On the front reels are various signs while the 1, 2 or 3 Wild Cars are introduced on the rightmost reel. Any sign they run over on their way to the other side will collect you an extra or turn the car.
- Free Spin Sign: Add +1 spin to the starting tally.
- Car Sign: Increments the Sticky Wild Car multiplier by x1.
- Speed Bump Sign: Increments the Drive-By multiplier by 1.
- Dice Sign: Lucky draw, revealing either a car, free spin or a speed bump with an x2 multiplier.
- Turn Sign: Possible options are left, right or U-turn. For the former two, the car will move to the next lane and continue its journey on the new row. U-turn will turn around the Wild Car and trigger a Rage Buff Respin. The reels spin one more time to reveal new prizes before the car drives in the opposite direction.
- Stop Sign: Stops the car movement on a Rage Buff Respin.
Once you move on from the Rage Buff, you will be heading into the bonus round with the collected Free Spins and added extras. In all three features, the cars will turn into Sticky Wilds in their stop position. The multiplier on them and the Drive By symbols multipliers can be further increased by landing Mystery Symbols, which will reveal the colour of the car and the increment for the multiplier.
The Morning Rush Spins are played on the default 5×3 grid with only one car possible to appear. Hitting one or two scatters will upgrade the feature to the H1ghway Jam Spins and City Mayh3m Spins respectively. On both occasions, the Morning Rush Spins are finished first before you reenter the Rage Buff for the new feature.
The H1ghway Jam Spins are played on a 5×4 grid with two cars active. Landing one scatter will upgrade you to the City Mayh3m Spins. Again, the current feature is finished first before you reenter the Rage Buff for the new upgraded round.
The City Mayh3m Spins are played on 5 reels with then 259 pay ways and all three Wild Cars active. No further retriggers are available. The feature ends when you run out of spins or trigger the Ghost Rider which signifies the maximum win at 36,000x bet.
As usual, Nolimit City included a range of Bonus Buy options for players residing in unrestricted jurisdictions. You can spend 66x, 270x or 666x your bet for the Morning Rush, H1ghway Jam and City Mayh3m Spins respectively. Or you can take the random draw for 334x which will see you win one of the three features with odds of 1:3 for each.
Final Verdict
Road Rage is indeed very different from the usual x-Ways, x-Bomb or x-Split slots that we have seen emanating from the studios of Nolimit City. Not that it is less chaotic with three Wild Cars crisscrossing the reels, applying symbol multipliers and creating wilds. Rather unwelcome is the fact that yet again there is little to no chance to hit significant wins in the bonus feature that will be triggered most, the Morning Rush Spins. You will need at least the H1ghway Jam Spins to be looking forward to the promised mega wins.
