Review
The circus show is back, bigger and better than ever on the slot from Play’n GO. Golden Ticket 2 is the sequel to original from 2014, bringing the fabled ensemble back to a 5×5 reel set with a new Ringmaster, more world-class acts and new features. Multiplier wilds up to a 2×2 size, three free spin modes and a win spin feature can lead to wins of up to 5,000 times your bet.
14th August 2020: The game has been prereleased exclusively at LeoVegas and Royal Panda Casino. It will go global on 3rd September 2020.
Slot Details
Golden Ticket 2 is a 5×5 grid slot with cascading symbols. Wins are awarded for landing cluster of three to five symbols in a row, horizontally or vertically. Join the circus show on desktop or mobile from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The game has maximum volatility (10/10) with a default RTP of 96.50%. Alternative RTP settings might be offered at 94.50% or 91.50%, always check the help files to find out which version you will be playing.
Loading the game will take you inside the big top of the circus show with the crowds eagerly awaiting the start of the reel show. Play’n GO has vastly improved the graphics, revealing the progress the game studio has made since releasing the original Golden Ticket slot in 2014. New artists together with a dashing female Ringmaster and their props dominate the grid, performing their acts on the side of the reels at various points during the gameplay. Three displays on the opposite side will indicate the progress and wins of the current round.
The pay symbols start at the low end with five props from the circus show – the Clown’s unicycle and juggling pins, the Knife-Throwers target and knives and a combo of hat and whip belonging to the dashing Ringmaster – awarding 2x to 5x for a five of a kind. They are followed by the artists themselves – Clown, Knife-Thrower and Ringmaster. Hit five connected vertically or horizontally to win 10x your bet. Any 5OAK combination of the three premiums will pay 5x your stake. A golden big top is the wild symbol, substituting for all pay symbols and yielding 50x your bet when five land connected horizontally or vertically.
Golden Ticket 2 Slot Details
Blinged, Jolly Roger 2 and now Golden Ticket 2. Play’n GO seems to be on a quest to dust up a range of their original games and give them a new lease of life together with a significant upgrade in graphics and features. The first two remakes were quite impressive, letting us look forward to what is included in Golden Ticket 2.
Core to the gameplay is the 5×5 grid with 25 symbols dropping down from the top at the start of a spin sequence with the aim to charge the Wild Meter or better clear the grid to win an extra 500x your total bet. Three or more adjacent symbols, horizontally or vertically, award a win similar to a three to five of a kind on a normal reel slot. Any winning combinations are cleared after the payout and the remaining symbols drop towards the bottom. A wild symbol will appear in the middle of a win with three symbols after they are removed. It will disappear again if it is part of a winning combo after the subsequent drop. Plus, the progressive win multiplier shown to the side of the grid will increase by x1 with each new drop within a single spin sequence. It will reset before the next game round.
Much of the win potential hinges on the wild symbols and the three characters, who will take turns to stand on the right side of the grid. To the left of the grid is the Wild Meter with three sections in the base game. A winning combo with three matching or mixed character symbols will fill up one section, while a four-symbol combo will power up two sections and a five-symbol combo will illuminate three sections.
Filling the meter will trigger the Multiplier Wilds feature. One or two 1×1-sized multiplier wilds will be placed on random positions on the grid to help you advance the game round and potentially clear the grid. The multiplier is based on the active character on the opposite side of the Wild Meter – x1 wilds for the Clown, x2 wilds for the Knife-Thrower, x3 wilds for the Ringmaster. The feature can trigger only once in a single spin sequence and more than one wild on a line will not be multiplied by each other or added. The character will change after every Multiplier Wilds activation.
You will have observed by now the word BONUS in the background of the pay symbols. It will move horizontally to a random row from two to five on every spin in the base game. Clearing the row showing the word will trigger the Free Spins feature with three modes. You can choose any on each occasion depending on your risk appetite. The options with fewer spins and higher multipliers are more volatile but can also lead to bigger wins.
- Ringmaster: 5 free spins with x3 multiplier wilds.
- Knife-Thrower: 7 free spins with x2 multiplier wilds.
- Clown: 9 free spins with x1 multiplier wilds.
During the feature, filling the Wild Meter with three sections will trigger a Win Spin with the chosen wild. A new set of symbols will drop onto the grid and a 2×2 multiplier wild be placed on a random position. The current progressive round multiplier is reset to x1 between a free spin and a win spin. Should you charge all five sections of the Wild Meter during a Win Spin, the game will retrigger another Win Spin and will not reset the progressive round multiplier. Clearing the entire grid will get you an extra reward equal to 500x your total bet.
Final Verdict
Play’n GO is clearly on a quest to revive some of their older titles and is not only giving them improved graphics and new feature but is also showcasing the creative progress they have over the years. Golden Ticket 2 is more aligned with the likes of Moon Princess or King of Olympus as Play’n GO did not transfer the bonus game from the original and instead opted for Multiplier Wilds and Win Spins. Speaking of wins, the potential has been more than doubled and peaks now at the usual 5,000 times your bet.
