Review
Looking for something out of the ordinary for your next gaming session? Or maybe just a change from the usual 5-reel slots with spinning reels? Either way, Queen’s Day Tilt will surprise you with sky-high volatility on a 3×3 grid where symbols drop onto the reels and wins being awarded for scoring matching symbols vertically or horizontally. But that’s not all. No less than four features will have you singing all the way to the bank with wins of up to 5,000x times your bet.
Slot Details
Queen’s Day Tilt is a 3×3 grid slot with wins paid for matching two or three symbols horizontally or vertically. Get in on the action on mobile or desktop for 0.10 to 100 credits. The RTP of this high variance game is set at 96.97%. Autoplay lets you spin 10 to 500 times consecutively without interruption.
The game window is set in the midst of an arena where a royal jousting tournament would take place in the medieval era. Very fittingly, queens and knights populate the reels. A medieval soundtrack completes another high-quality game design from Play’n GO.
The pay symbols are well-fitting for the theme, starting with the card suits – hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades – at the low level. They are followed by a pair of shields with a royal emblem and two different knights. The queen is the wild symbol. Pays for a single three of a kind range from 2x to 8x the bet. Doesn’t sound much but there will be twists in the gameplay that will let those values explode to mega wins. There are no scatters on the reels as the free spins are triggered by emptying the grid.
Pay Mechanic Explained
Queen’s Day Tilt does not have spinning reels as other slots. Instead, nine symbols drop onto the 3×3 grid for each round. The aim is to empty the grid and trigger the free spins round. Wins are awarded for two or three adjacent symbols, either horizontally or vertically. The winning combo is removed after the win is paid and the remaining symbols drop down to fill the places. If a three-symbol combo occurred, then a wild symbol is created in the middle of the combo after the symbols have been removed. Any new winning combo will disappear as well after being paid until no new wins occur or the grid is emptied. Not an easy feat you would think, but the game has three extras that will make it easier to achieve.
Queen’s Day Tilt Features
The three extra features will come into play at various stages during a game round to aid players to empty the grid and trigger the free spins feature. The two random features can trigger in the base game and free spins.
- The Ruler feature – one extra wild can strike at random on any losing symbol drop. A pay evaluation follows and the round continues as normal
- Tilt Strike feature – can trigger randomly if there is only one symbol left on the grid at the end of a round. It will remove it and trigger the Queen’s Day Free Spins
- Game of Accession feature – triggered when winning combos with both knights land in a new game round. The low-value symbols are removed from the reels while a respin is started. Before though, players have to pick which of the two knights will deliver most wins on the respin. A correct pick will double the payout while a tie repeats the respin.
Queen’s Day Free Spins Feature
Removing all symbols from the grid in one game round will trigger five free spins, which can be indefinitely retriggered if the grid is emptied on a free spin or the last symbol is removed by a random Tilt strike. Only the high value symbols are on the reels for the duration of the feature. The round will start with an x2 multiplier, which will be increased by x1 every time wins with both knights occur on a free spin. On the other hand, a losing spin will trigger automatically the Ruler feature where one random wild is added to the grid.
Final Verdict
You would think a 3×3 slot will be boring as nowadays we are used to having five or six reels with endless win lines. Think again, as this slot from Play’n GO will pack a powerful punch thanks to the features that the developer added to the gameplay. Especially retriggering the free spins round will make things extra suspenseful as the multiplier keeps increasing indefinitely. The maximum win of 5,000 times your bet will only further add to the suspense.
