The feisty troll-hunting lady warriors are back on the slot from Play’n GO, bolder and meaner than ever. Troll Hunters 2 is the sequel to the original Troll Hunters slot which was released in 2016, taking players on a journey through the vast wilderness of the Far North. In this edition, the ladies will award you with multiplier wilds, a progressive cascade multiplier and three types of free spin modes with mega wilds and colossal symbols that can lead to wins of up to 5,000 times your bet.

Slot Details

Troll Hunters 2 is a cascading grid slot in a 5×5 format with no pay lines. Wins are awarded for three to five matching symbols landing adjacent either horizontally or vertically. Any winning combos are removed and the remaining symbols drop to the bottom, potentially leading to more wins. No new symbols will cascade into the empty places as the aim of the game is to clear the grid, which will be rewarded with an extra win of 500 times your bet.

You can join the feisty lady hunters on desktop or mobile from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The RTP of this high variance game is set at 96.50%. Worth noting is that some operators might opt for a lower RTP setting of 94.50%. A rugged winter scene typical for the Norse lands with snow-capped mountains in the distance is in the background of the game window. The pay symbols start at the low end with Viking horns, helmets, shields, swords, hammers and battle axes. Lining up a cluster of five will pay 2x to 4x your stake. They are followed by the blond, red-haired and black-haired lady warriors, each paying 10x your bet for five. Any combination of the ladies will pay 5x your bet when five land in a cluster. A golden rune-style icon is the standard wild, substituting for all symbols.

Troll Hunters 2 Slot Features

Fans of the original Troll Hunters slot will know what to expect although Play’n GO cranked up the win potential and the volatility, plus they altered the features that will make it possible to hit the max win of 5,000x your bet.

At the start of a game round, 25 symbols drop from the top onto the grid. Any winning combos will be removed and the remaining symbols drop down, potentially leading to more wins. When you get a win with three symbols, a wild symbol will appear in the middle location after the other two symbols are removed. It will only disappear from the grid if it forms part of a winning combo with four or five symbols on the following drops. After each winning cluster, the win multiplier displayed in the top left corner is increased by x1, no limits.

New is the Shield Meter on the left of the game window with three sections that will light up when you score a win with the troll hunters. A three, four or five of a kind will fill up 1, 2 and 3 sections respectively. Once activated, it will add one or two wilds in random empty positions on the grid. Choices are x1, x2 and x3 wilds. The game round will continue as normal after the wilds have been placed.

On each spin, a row showing the word “Bonus” is moving between rows one and four. Clearing the grid to the level where the entire word becomes visible will trigger the free spins feature with three options:

• Blonde Troll Hunter: 9 free spins and 2×2 troll wilds with an x1 multiplier
• Red-Haired Troll Hunter: 7 free spins and 2×2 troll wilds with an x2 multiplier
• Dark-Haired Troll Hunter: 5 free spins and 2×2 troll wilds with an x3 multiplier

The mega troll wilds will come into play when you fill-up the three sections of the Shield Meter on a free spin to trigger a Win Spin. The 2×2 troll wild is placed in a random grid position, virtually guaranteeing wins with minimum three symbols. During a Win Spin, the Shield Meter has five sections and filling it up again by scoring sufficient winning clusters with the troll hunters will retrigger the Win Spin. The overall win multiplier will keep increasing throughout a Win Spin round and will only reset before the next free spin.

Final Verdict

Play’n GO demonstrated yet again that they are the masters of grid slots. Troll Hunters 2 is an improvement in all areas when compared to the original with features that are not totally new but the mix virtually guarantees suspenseful and entertaining gaming sessions.

We hit 150x and 303x bet in our rest runs, hence, the slot is capable of delivering mega wins. However, it eludes us somewhat as to how you could get to the maximum win of 5,000x bet. Play’n GO quoted the chance for that hit at 1:100 million spins, which is not much different to similar games such as Rise of Olympus or Moon Princess, where to date we have yet to see a screenshot with the max. win, but they are good for regular mega wins in the 500x to 1,000x region. Only time will tell if the highly volatile Viking ladies can deliver the maximum.
