Slot Details

Kingdoms Rise: Reign of Ice is a progressive jackpot slot with five reels, three rows and 25 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for three to five matching symbols or in combination with a wild on a line from left to right only. You can enter the icy fantasy world on desktop or mobile from 0.10 to absolute high-roller friendly 2,000 credits per spin. The game has medium volatility with an overall RTP of 96.08% of which 0.99% is contributing to the jackpots and 3% are reserved for the Kingdoms Rise Tokens.

Firing up the game might make you shudder as you are entering a frozen fantasy world with giant icicles pointing to the sky in the background of the stone ornamented game window. A flag standard on the left with the Kingdom map will take you to the selection screen where you can access all four slots in the series. Keep an eye on the hammer display at the top as it will illuminate when the main feature is triggered. An epic soundtrack is underlined with metallic noises, creating a suspenseful atmosphere.

The pay symbols start at the low end with four differently shaped gemstones in green, purple, pink and blue colours, awarding 2x to 3x your stake for a single five of a kind. They are followed by three distinct Norse weapons – flails, daggers and Viking axes. Hit five on a line to win 4x to 5x your bet. The premiums are the Valkyrie and the Barbarian, paying 10x and 12x your bet respectively for a full line across the reels.

The standard wild is an intricate golden tile with an engraved blue crystal, appearing on reel three, four and five only and substituting for all regular pay symbols. Thor’s hammer covered in ice is the second wild, which can land on reel two only, potentially triggering the main feature.

Kingdoms Rise: Reign of Ice Slot Features

Similar to the other slots in the series, Kingdoms Rise: Reign of Ice is an intense game that has ample things going for it while you chase those big progressive jackpots. There is a Hammer Respins feature with unlimited respins modes and four Token collection features, the latter becoming available when you accumulated sufficient coins.

At the core of the gameplay is the frozen Hammer Wild. Whenever it lands on reel two, any Barbarian or Valkyrie symbols in view will try to break the ice and release it. Each released hammer is collected in the top display. You will need at least one to trigger the Hammer Respins.

The feature has unlimited respins with wins landing on a respin being accumulated in the bottom display. All standard wilds appearing on the back reels will be locked/frozen in place until a Hammer Wild lands on reel two. The hammer will drop down from the top to apply the currently active multiplier of x1, x2, x3 and x5. If standard locked wilds are in view when the hammer drops, it will randomly select one to stay frozen while the others are released. The feature ends when all active hammer has been used. Worth noting is that only wins that contain a multiplier wild will be multiplied.

With the launch of the Kingdoms Rise series, Playtech has introduced an in-game Token rewards system that comes at no extra cost as such but 3% of the RTP are attributed to it. Gold coin tokens can appear attached to any pay symbol and will be added to your personal Token balance. You can use them in the Kingdoms Rise Shop to buy a feature on any slot from the series. You can head to the shop any time to exchange your tokens.

The Hammer Respins feature can be triggered by exchanging tokens in the Kingdoms Rise Shop. There are two different types available that you can purchase at any time when there is no feature active. For 400 Tokens, you’ll get a Hammer Respins feature with one hammer in the multiplier bar. Or you could spend 1,500 tokens to trigger the Hammer Respins with up to 4 hammers in the multiplier bar. The number is randomly selected.

And that is not the end yet as Playtech included a feature for both characters that can be purchased in the shop for a set amount of tokens, each capable of delivering mega wins.

• 800 Tokens – Barbarian Respins: Trigger initially three respins with only the Barbarian as premium symbol on the reels. Any landing will be locked in place and the counter is reset to three. Plus, a multiplier bar increases by x1 for each new Barbarian, peaking at x15 if you manage to fill the screen. The feature ends when the respin counter reaches zero or the screen is filled with Barbarian symbols.
• 1,000 Tokens – Valkyrie Respins: Triggers initially three respins with only the Valkyrie as premium symbol on the reels. Any landing will be locked in place and a cash prize is awarded. At the top of each reel is an x5 multiplier. Filling the reel with sticky Valkyrie symbols will activate it, applying the multiplier to each cash prize on the respective reel. Landing at least one Valkyrie will reset the respin counter to three. The feature ends when you fill the screen with Valkyrie symbols or the counter reaches zero.

Lastly, and for some players the most important part, are the three progressive Kingdoms Rise jackpots. These are localized jackpots specific to a single casino or all brands of a casino group. A percentage of 0.99% of each bet contributes to the three jackpots. They can trigger randomly after any spin with the chances of winning one being directly relative to your bet size. Kingdoms Rise: Reign of Ice is the fourth addition to the progressive jackpot slot series from Playtech and most probably not the last one if we take the Age of Gods series as reference where the number has grown to about a dozen games.
