Review
You’ll be hoping your luck is turned on when you spin the reels on the slot from Playtech. A rather weird name with even weirder style graphics seems to be a rather simple fare and a lazy effort from one of the industry leaders. Nevertheless, a random feature and a free spins round with an expanding game window and mega symbols on three synchronized reels will we good for wins of up to 1,458 times your bet. Not that it is high enough to shout about it.
Slot Details
Turn It On is a video slot with five reels, three rows and 243 ways with wins being paid from left to right only. Disregard the graphics and play the game on mobile or desktop from 0.50 to a massive 500 credits per spin. All that will go down with an unusually low RTP of 93.93% and medium volatility.
This is the moment where I got lost. While the baby-blue striped background is still acceptable, I would like to know what the title has in common with roosters and eggs as both feature prominently on the reels. To make it even more questionable, they put a crown on the eggs, maybe signifying a future rooster king or chicken queen but who knows what went through the designers’ minds. The rooster though will indeed turn it on every time he lands as he will wake you up with his crows. The rest of the audio is some generic acoustic piece.
The pay symbols are just as strange as the graphics with most being found on fruit machines or have no connection to either the title or the rooster. At the low end are the ad adsurdum used card royals from 9 through to A, bizarrely followed by golden pinecones and bees. Further up in value are strawberries in a heartshape and oranges. Pays for a single five of a kind are mediocre from 0.4x to 2x your stake. The good news is that the wild rooster appears stacked at all times but only does so on reels two, three and four, substituting for all symbols bar scatters. No chance here to hit a full screen of wilds then. The mentioned golden egg wit a crown is the scatter symbol.
The Random Locked Reels Feature
This can be triggered randomly at any time in the base game only. Reels two and three or three and four will be paired up to unveil synchronized symbols when they stop. Nothing major really, but it will produce some extra wins or lead occasionally to a big win.
The Turn it On Free Spins Feature
Hit three golden egg scatters to trigger 15 free spins, which cannot be retriggered. The game layout changes to a giant window with three reel sets stacked on top of each other. And it gets even better. Reels two, three and four are merged into a mega reel containing 3×3 symbols only. Now that will potentially raise the excitement significantly. The three merged reels spin first before the outer reels follow to display a spin result. We scored 21x to 54x our bet in our test rounds, so do not quit your day job yet when you trigger the free spins.
Final Verdict
Expecting some naughty action on the reels after reading the title, we were actually presented with a snoozefest that won’t raise an eyebrow in the casino community. Oh, we nearly forgot, those roosters crows become really annoying at some point as it constantly interrupted our naps as the game was spinning away on Autoplay. Needless to say, we were not turned on by this Playtech creation.
