Real Team Gaming, better known as RTG, is what we would call an industry veteran or maybe even a dinosaur in the gaming market. They were founded in 1998 when online gaming was just starting to become mainstream. At first, they were headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia but regulatory restrictions in the US saw them move in 2007 to Heredia in Costa Rica. In the same year, RTG was acquired by Hastings International, Curacao.
From the very beginning, RTG introduced a download client that led to a large number of RTG-exclusive casino operators. After focussing on the lucrative US market in the first years, RTG shifted to a more global presence forced mostly by the changes in gambling laws in the US, that happened around the middle of the first decade of this century. Today, they are one of the very few providers who still allow their games to be run by online casino operators that accept US players. A rather grey market that comes with a lot of challenges regarding payments, games access and other issues.
Nevertheless, RTG is a powerhouse in today’s iGaming industry and boasts a games catalogue that goes well past 300 slots, video poker and table games. RTG was one of the first providers to launch multi-player poker games as well as progressive jackpots. After resisting for years to transition their games to browser-based applications, they finally made the change around 2010 as multi-platform casino operators where taking the market by storm and RTG’s business came under pressure to adapt. Until then, their games were exclusively available via their download client, giving RTG the complete control over their operation.
But even with the transition, RTG games can be found mostly at casinos that run exclusively on the RTG platform. Currently, there are not many multi-platform casino operators listing their games although many of their games have become player favourites. Casino Max, Kudos Casino and Raging Bull Casino are just a few examples of the more trusted RTG exclusive casinos. Multi-platform casinos that list RTG games include SlotsMagic, DrueckGlueck, Lapalingo and Ahti Games. Listing their most popular games would probably need another page but worth mentioning are The Big Booper, The Elf Wars, Cash Bandits, Asgard and The Naughty List.
