Review
Go on a quest to retrieve the Golden Slot on the game from Red Tiger Gaming. Jackpot Quest is not as the title suggests a progressive slot but a reel story of a treasure hunter determined to persevere through a treacherous jungle adventure in search of the coveted artefact. Super symbols of up to a 6×6 size, respins with sticky symbols and Ruby Talismans that will clone symbols can lead to wins of up to 1,000 times your bet on a single spin.
Slot Details
Jackpot Quest is a video slot with six reels, six rows and oddly only 40 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for three to five symbols on a line from left to right only. Your reel adventure on desktop or mobile starts at 0.20 credits and peaks at a flat 100 credits per spin. The RTP of this high variance game is set at 96.30%.
We are no fans of huge game windows with a mediocre number of pay lines as the size suggests there is a lot more to expect. If you reduce the 6×6 format to the usual 5×3 format, you would end up with less than 20 pay lines which in turn might not appeal to many players. However, developers have increasingly used this visual trickery as it implies that there will be many ways to win on such a big reel set. Well, let’s keep an open mind and have a look at how it plays out on Jackpot Quest.
A cartoon-like jungle scene with dense greenery and pictures of the explorer at different stages of his quest surround the game window with a cream-white background that makes it stand out. The cartoonish design continues with the pay symbols and visual animations, almost like those found in comic books.
All pay symbols can appear super-stacked and start the low end with the card royals from 10 through to A, paying 0.8x to 2x our stake for a single five of a kind. They are followed by maps, whips, sachels and the Golden Slot. Hit five on a line to win 8x to 25x your bet. There are no wilds or scatters on this slot but Ruby Talisman symbols which will trigger the reel modifiers.
Jackpot Quest Slot Features
Central to the action on the game are the respins, which come into play when you hit a win with any of the four premium symbols. All, including those not connected to the winning combo, are held and the reels respin for free. Any further symbols landing will be locked in place too and another respin awarded until no further matching symbols land. Win evaluations are performed after the feature ended.
Hitting four matching symbols in a square pattern will transform it into a 2×2 Super Symbol. This can further increase during the respins to 3×3, 4×4, 5×5 and 6×6 sizes when you land more symbols adjacent to the Super Symbol. You could even have multiple Super Symbols in view, e.g. two in a 2×2 size and one in a 3×3 size.
The Super Symbols will play a significant role for the reel modifiers, which are triggered when a Ruby Talisman symbols lands on the reels while they are in view. The talisman will activate different reel modifiers based on which premium symbol is currently a Super Symbol. They will not trigger if there is no Super Symbol on the reels.
- Golden Slot: If the Ruby Talisman activates the Golden Slot Super Symbol it turns all premiums into golden slot symbols.
- Satchel:Â If the Ruby Talisman activates the Satchel Super Symbol it turns a random number of symbols into satchel symbols.
- Whip: If the Ruby Talisman activates the Whip Super Symbol it turns a random number of symbols into whip symbols.
- Map:Â If the Ruby Talisman activates the Map Super Symbol it turns a random number of symbols into map symbols.
Obviously, the Golden Slot symbol is the most lucrative to trigger as it can lead to the maximum win on the slot. A full screen will pay 1,000 times your bet. All modifiers reset after the respin feature ends.
Final Verdict
Well, did the 6×6 size make sense on the Jackpot Quest slot? In a way yes as one of the objectives in the gameplay is to hit Super Symbols as that is the only moment the reel modifiers can trigger. Still, Red Tiger could have made an effort to give it more pay lines and adjust the math model accordingly. The slot is not all bad and can go on extended winning streaks but can also get rather boring when the respins end repeatedly before a Super Symbol is formed.
