The history of Scientific Games goes back to their foundation year 1973 when they introduced the first secure instant lottery game. These were counterfeit-proof scratch cards that could be sold at lottery shops in the entire USA. Based in Las Vegas, Nevada, their initial focus was on sports betting and lottery games. Only decades later did they enter the market for casino games with the acquisition of companies like Barcrest, WMS, Bally Technologies and Shuffle Master, which they incorporated into their subsidiary SG Interactive.
The internet age saw them shifting a large part of their focus to online gaming and betting. More recently they acquired Red 7 Mobile and the NYX Gaming Group. Today, they are one of the world’s leading supplier of computerized and mechanical slot machines, table games, iGaming and iLottery products, instant lottery games, lottery gaming systems, terminals and services, server-based interactive gambling terminals, gambling control systems, social gaming, and sports betting.
In 2018, they bundled all their subsidiaries for online casino games from their own arm SG Interactive and from the newly acquired NYX Gaming Group as well as those for digital gaming and sports betting technology into SG Digital.
