Review
Rush to the reels of this Thunderkick slot and experience a special wild tiger show as he expands into a reel-tall wild symbol every time he lands on the screen and awards a respin for even more wins. Trigger the bonus round and you’ll play a set of free spins on an expanded game window to score mega wins of up to 1,750 times your stake.
Slot Details
Tiger Rush is a low to medium variance video slot with five reels, three rows and 10 fixed pay lines in the base game. In the free spins, the number of rows will expand to five on the centre reels and the pay lines will increase to 25 for the duration of the feature. In both, the game awards wins both ways, from left to right and right to left. Bet sizes range from the usual 0.10 to 100 credits while the RTP is set at 96.30%. The slot can be played on desktop and mobile devices, while Autoplay allows up to 5,000 consecutive spins without interruption.
The theme is somewhat Chinese with out-of-focus bamboo trees and sunlight penetrating the forest as the backdrop. It changes to a night setting in the free spins round. The Asian tiger is standing out from the pay symbols as it will expand to cover the entire reel as a wild symbol. A wooden drumbeat is the main soundtrack, interrupted only by the usual reel and win count noises.
To be honest, I had some difficulty naming the low-value symbols. They could be jelly beans, stones or maybe gems and come in five different colours – purple, blue, red, green and yellow. Hit five of them on a pay line to collect a win of 1.4x to 5x your stake. There are only two premium symbols which look like pieces of Asian art. The one with the bird is the top-paying symbol, awarding 15x your bet for a five of a kind. The tiger is the wild symbol, appearing on reels two, three and four only. The slot logo is the scatter, itself appearing on reels one and five in the base game and free spins.
Tiger Rush Respin
Hit minimum one wild tiger symbol on any of the three center reels to see him expand into a full-reel height wild and award a respin after potential wins are evaluated and paid. The respins continue until either no wild tiger symbol appears on a respin or all three center reels have an expanded wild tiger symbol.
Tiger Rush Free Spins
The slot has two ways to trigger the free spins. Either a scatter on reels one and five or one scatter and an adjacent wild symbol will award five free spins for each combination. Hitting two scatters and wild tigers on reels two and four simultaneously will trigger the maximum amount of 15 free spins. The feature can be retriggered indefinitely.
During the free spins, the game window expands to a 3-5-5-5-3 format with 25 fixed pay lines. The pay-both-ways mechanic is active in the feature while the tiger expansion will also be applied. This is the moment, where the slot can hit the maximum win, although the maximum on a single spin is just 375x bet. However, the overall maximum for a bonus round peaks at 1,750 times your stake.
Final Verdict
Not really sure where to put this slot. To me, it looks like Thunderkick rushed to release Tiger Rush (pun intended). It is low variance, has simple graphics and no new or exciting pay mechanic, nor am I impressed by the meager win potential. Hitting a full screen of the premium symbol should definitely pay more than a measly 375x bet since it happens maybe once in a million spins. But, I guess, the slot will be good for wagering through a bonus as it produces frequently smallish wins.
