Slot Details
Midway Money is a video slot with 5 reels, 4 rows and 40 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for three to five matching symbols on a line from left to right only. Available on desktop, tablet or mobile, you can bet from 0.10 to 50 credits per spin. The game has high volatility with a default RTP of 96%. Beware, lower versions at 94%, 90.50% or 86% might be offered.
Fittingly to the theme, a duck shooter wagon at a carnival fair serves as the background to the game window. The usual protagonists found at the fair including barker, strongman and fire eater populate the reels. The strength meter to the right will play a major role in triggering the bonus features. A typical lively soundtrack provides the main audio to the gameplay.
The pay symbols start at the low end with card royals from 10 through to A, awarding 1.5x to 2.5x your bet for a five of a kind. They are followed by milk bottles, teddy bears, the strongman, the fire-eating lady, and the carnival barker. Hit five on a line to win 3x to 7x your stake.
The game has three wilds – a MM slot logo on all reels, the bearded hammer guy (blue-white striped shirt) on reel four and the hammer&bell combo on reel 5. The latter two appear 2-symbols high. All three substitute for regular pay symbols. Lastly, a Ferris wheel acts as the scatter.
Midway Money Slot Features
Being a relatively new developer, Reel Life Games is not yet exactly what we would call a Tier 1 provider but signing up to Yggdrasil‘s Masters platform is bound to significantly increase their exposure. Midway Money is not their debut at online casinos, however, it is the first we are reviewing. Reason enough to take a closer look.
Each reel contains a number of placeholders that will be replaced with randomly selected Stacked Symbols at the start of every spin in the base game and free spins. These can be either matching or different symbols for each reel, providing the opportunity to hit full screens of the same symbol.
However, your main aim will be to either land scatters on reels one, three and five or have the bearded hammer guy and the hammer&bell symbols appear simultaneously in full view on reels 4 and 5. Any of the scenarios will trigger one of the bonus features,
The three scatters will award 5 Minimum Win Free Spins, while a retrigger adds +7 spins. Each free spin will pay at least 1x your bet on a losing spin or when the payout is below the bet amount. Hitting a win on a free spin that exceeds the minimum amount will replace it with the new higher value, which will then be paid again as the minimum win for the following spins. The increase can happen repeatedly throughout a feature while the various Strength Meter modifiers can also be triggered. The round ends when you run out of spins.
For all other features on the slot, keep an eye on the Strength Meter to the right. It has a ladder between 5% and 100%, indicating the odds that one or more of the modifiers will be awarded on the next trigger. Landing the bearded guy in a blue-white striped gymnastics suit on reel 4 and the hammer&bell icon on reel five in full view will get you one chance to activate the Ferris Wheel.
The bearded man will hit the hammer once, activating the Ferris Wheel when the bell rings. The odds are equal to the currently lit number on the Strength Meter. In case the bell doesn’t ring, the lit level is increased by 5%, thus improving the odds for a successful trigger on the next occasion. When activated in the base game, the Ferris Wheel can award the following modifiers:
- Fire Eater – Symbol Removal: One of the top 8 paying symbols is randomly selected and all that are below in the paytable will be transformed into the chosen symbol including scatters.
- Duck Shoot – Viral Wilds: The four positions of the two triggering symbols for the Strength Test are turned in the Viral Wilds. Adjacent positions can also turn repeatedly into a Viral Wild and further spread the pattern, potentially filling the entire screen with wilds.
- Fire Eater + Duck Shoot: Both modifiers are awarded with the former being applied first.
- Strong Man + Fire Eater: The Strong Man will first increase the reel height to 5, 6, 7 or 8 positions with then 50, 60, 70 and 80 lines respectively before the Fire Eater symbol modifier is applied.
- Strong Man + Duck Shoot: The Strong Man modifier is applied before the Duck Shoot Viral Wilds are deployed.
One of the five options will be randomly selected in the base game. The Strong Man is only available in combination with the other two modifiers. During the Free Spins, all three modifiers can be awarded at the same time.
Final Verdict
While Midway Money feels like going to a fun fair, the graphics and visuals might look somewhat outdated, especially for Gen-X and Gen-Z players. Nevertheless, the number of features will make sure that there is rarely a long period of boredom. The top win of 6,000x bet should please any fun fair visitor.
