Review
The fearless warriors are back for their biggest battle yet, as they take on the flaming demon hordes of the underworld on the slot from Yggdrasil Gaming. Vikings Go To Hell is the third game featuring the Norse warriors, bringing even more action to the reels with the Demon Fight feature, valuable treasure chests, base game respins, Rage collection meters and three Free Spins modes that can lead to wins of up to 3,500 times your bet.
Slot Details
Vikings Go To Hell is a video slot with five reels, four rows and 25 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded for three to five matching symbols on a line from left to right only. You can join the Norse warriors on desktop or mobile from 0.10 to 125 credits per spin. The game is highly volatile (89/100) with an RTP of 96.10%.
A dark doomsday-like scenario with blazing red hot flames that one could imagine to encounter in hell is opening up when you load the game. The Lord of Chains overlooks a stone-encased game window dominated by four fierce-looking Norse warriors and their weapons. A dramatic soundtrack completes the slot design.
The game has eight regular pay symbols with four weapon icons at the low end and four Norse warriors as premiums, easily recognizable through different background colours – blue, green, purple and red. Hit five on a line to win 2x to 6x your bet. There’s further a wild symbol, substituting for all regular pay symbols as well as Free Spins scatters and a treasure chest, the latter appearing on reel five only.
Vikings Go To Hell Slot Features
For those who have played the first to slots in the series, Vikings Go Berzerk or Vikings Go Wild, you will find that this creation is an evolution of its siblings with some added features. For all others, get ready for a feature frenzy that will have you in suspense throughout your session. Either way, we will do our best to list them all in a chronological order.
Core to the gameplay are still the Rage Meters for each Viking, only that this time they are placed to the left of the game window. Loading the game for the first time will give you 50 points for the first Viking while the rest is filled up through various features. Any partially filled meters will be stored between sessions. Collecting 100 points for one Viking will trigger 7 Berzerk Level 1 Free Spins with the respective Viking in Berzerk mode (more to that shortly).
- 1 Point: Awarded for each wild attained from a battle with a regular demon, the Lord of Chains or Lucifir
- 30 Points: Can be won for 1 Viking through the Treasure Chest feature in the base game
- 30 Points: Can be won for all 4 Vikings through the Treasure Chest feature in the base game
The next feature is triggered when a Treasure Chest lands on reel five. It will move to the front to reveal either a Good or an Epic Tablet, each spinning then through a variety of prizes. On offer are for the Good Tablet – random coin win from 7.5x to 15x your bet, 30 rage boost for one Viking or 7 free spins. The Epic Tablet has improved prizes – random coin win from 30x to 60x your bet, 30 points boost for all 4 Vikings or 12/16 free spins. The free spins prizes are removed if the free spins feature was triggered on the same spin.
The Treasure Chest can also land during Level 1 or 2 Free Spins with the Good Tablet awarding either +2 free spins or 2 random sticky wilds while the Epic Tablet will award +3 free spins or one sticky wild reel, except for reel five.
Landing two scatters anywhere on the reels will trigger the Demon Fight feature. Each Viking in view will face ea demon in a one-on-one fight. Winning it will add one point to the respective rage meter plus the Viking will turn into a sticky wild. In case you hit exactly two scatters, the game will award initially one respin with all winning Viking wilds from the battles locked in place. Win evaluations are made once the reels have spun again. The respin can randomly retrigger when you land again two scatters.
In turn, hitting three, four or five scatters anywhere on the reels will trigger 7, 12 and 16 Level 1 Free Spins respectively after the demon fights have concluded. Alternatively, they can be triggered via the Treasure Chest or the Rage meter. The difference for the latter is that you will get just 7 free spins with the triggering Viking always in Berzerk Mode.
On Level 1, any Viking landing on the reels in a free spin will face a demon. Winning the fight will turn him into a sticky wild for the remainder of the feature and award one Rage point. One random Viking in view will not fight a demon but will face instead the Lord of Chains who omes with three lives on the health bar. A Viking striking him will remove one bar after which the Viking will turn as well into a sticky wild.
Three strikes will defeat the Lord of Chains, awarding two additional sticky wilds which are placed on random positions on the reels plus the Level 2 Free Spins feature which is played after Level 1 is completed. During the remaining free spins on Level 1, all Vikings will be in Berzerk Mode, turning instantly into a sticky wild when they land.
Getting back to the Berzerk Free Spins triggered via the Rage meter, the respective Viking will be in permanent Berzerk Mode and will always defeat demons and the Lord of the Chains. However, no Rage points are collected while the round is played at an average bet size used throughout the collection period.
Once Level 1 has concluded, you will advance to Level 2 if you managed to defeat the Lord of Chains. All sticky wilds are removed and 7 Free Spins awarded. Should you have entered Level 2 via the Berzerk Free Spins, then the respective Viking will stay in Berzerk Mode throughout the second level.
Lucifir will appear at the end of every free spin if you have at least on Viking symbol on the reels. He also has three lives and will fight one randomly chosen Viking. A strike will remove one life from the health bar and add one random sticky wild to the reels. Three strikes will defeat Lucifir and one additional sticky wild is added to a random position. All Vikings landing on the remaining Level 2 free spins will instantly turn into sticky wilds. As a final prize for defeating Lucifir, the total win from Level 1 and 2 will be multiplied by x3.
Final Verdict
After the first two slots in this series, Vikings Go To Hell feels like the culmination of the Norse warrior tale that has been prevalent throughout all three games, although it all can feel overloaded at times. But it all becomes clear after you have seen it play out a few times. Overall, every aspect including the win potential has been cranked up to deliver a suspenseful slotting session that can lead to wins of up to 3,500 times your bet.
