Review
Enter the ancient treasure chamber on the slot from Blueprint Gaming for an encounter with fire breathing beasts. Dragonfall will take you deep into the catacombs of a forgotten temple where two dragons are guarding vast fortunes and precious dragon eggs. Your quest to retrieve the hidden reel riches will be aided by cascading symbols, cluster pays, wild substitutions, unlimited win multipliers and a free spins round with wandering wilds and progressive multipliers that can lead to wins in excess of 20,000 times your bet.
Slot Details
DragonFall is a cascading grid slot with an 8×8 format and cluster pays. Wins are awarded for clusters of five or more matching symbols, connected horizontally and/or vertically anywhere on the grid. You can face the fiery dragons on desktop or mobile from 0.20 to 20 credits per spin. The game is highly volatile with an RTP in the 96% range (to be confirmed).
Loading the game will take you into an ancient treasure chamber guarded by two dragons. Eternal flames on either side of the game window will change into flaming colours during the free spins. Troves of gems in various colours and gold coins are scattered throughout the chamber ready for you to collect. An epic soundtrack heightens the suspense level and goes into dramatic crescendos on big wins.
The slot has six regular pay symbols, all in form of differently coloured and structured dragon eggs – blue, purple, green, grey, gold and the most valuable held by a dragon. Wins for clusters of 25 or more symbols range from 10x to 100x the bet (to be confirmed). A dragon eye is the wild symbol which will have an increasing win multiplier attached when they are part of consecutive winning clusters. They act at the same time as scatters with three needed on the grid in one cascading sequence to trigger the free spins.
Cascade and Collapse Game Mechanic
Instead of spinning reels, the slot will cascade 64 symbols onto the grid at the beginning of every spin. A cluster of five to 25 matching symbols or in combination with wild symbols will award wins according to the paytable. Any winning cluster will collapse, making room for more symbols to cascade into place. The spin sequence will continue until no new winning clusters land after a fresh cascade, potentially leading to multiple winners within one round.
Dragon Fall Slot Features
Key to the gameplay and to scoring mega wins on this game are the dragon eye wilds. If one is part of a winning cluster on a cascade, it will not collapse with the regular pay symbols but move to an adjacent vacant position prior to the next symbol cascade within the same sequence. All wilds in view are held in place when a collapse occurs and override any new dropping pay symbols.
The kicker is though the attached unlimited multiplier. It increases by +1 every time a wild is part of a winning cluster. The increased multiplier is applied if a new winning cluster drops into place on the next cascade that contains the wild. Multipliers from different wilds are multiplied by each other. The multiplier will not increase if the dragon eye wilds are not part of a winning cluster but will stay in position until the end of the spin sequence. They will disappear before the next spin starts.
Get three dragon eye wilds anywhere on the grid in one cascading sequence to trigger six free spins. The triggering wilds will remain on the screen for the duration of the feature and will increase the multiplier by +1 on each occasion when they are part of a winning combination. Any further wild jars landing during the feature will also remain on the screen until the end of the free spins. After each collapse and cascade, they move to the next adjacent vacant reel position.
Lastly, for those impatient among us there is a Bonus Buy button where players can purchase a free spins feature at a fixed price. Once done, it will lead instantly into the bonus round. As of October 2019, this feature will not be available for our gaming friends from the United Kingdom due to new regulations.
Final Verdict
Well, slot connoisseurs will most probably know from where Blueprint took inspiration for Dragon Fall. The game is very similar to Jammin’ Jars from Push Gaming, although it does not include a random feature. The mechanics, wilds, progressive multipliers and bonus round are though exactly the same. While we are not big fans of what we call clones, we are always for added variety.
With Dragon Fall, players will have now an alternative to the original, especially since Push Gaming is not as widely available as Blueprint. Overall, the slot is superbly designed, the gameplay intense and the win potential huge. From our first look, it seems slightly less volatile than Jammin’ Jars, although we can only confirm that after we get the chance for an extended test.
