Review
Fishin’ Frenzy? Wasn’t there already a quirky slot with this name? Indeed, the game has been around since 2014. Originally designed by Reel Time Gaming, it became part of Blueprint Gaming’s portfolio via a licensing deal. Fast forward to 2019 and the slot just got, what seems to be the latest “en-vogue” thingy among developers who have access to the BTG game engine, the Megaways makeover.
Fishing’ Frenzy Megaways grew from 10 lines to 15,625 ways to win. Catch the biggest fish to score coin wins and trigger the free spins for up to 10,000 times your bet. Customary to Blueprint slots, it also offers a feature buy option. So let’s get those bait worms and jump onto the boat to see what kind of catch we can take home.

Slot Details
Fishing Frenzy Megaways is a video slot with six reels, two to five rows and 64 to 15,625 ways to win. The game is using the patented Megaways engine with variable reels where two to five symbols appear on each reel on a spin. Wins are then paid for adjacent symbols from left to right only. Your fishing tour on mobile, desktop or mobile will cost you from 0.10 to 10 credits. The RTP of this high variance game is set at 95.02%, which is rather low for Blueprint slots.
Looks like there wasn’t enough in the makeover budget to give the graphics a fresh touch-up. In fact, very little has changed, the setting still sees the game window just below the water surface while the pay symbols are typical fishing items. They gave it a different look in the free spins which are played at sundown with the usual flaming colours of the sun setting in the far distance.
Virtually unchanged, you will find the card royals from 10 to A at the low level, paying 2.5x to 5x your bet for a single six of a kind. They are followed in ascending order by tackle boxes, life belts, fishing rods and seagulls. Wins for a 6OAK range from 5x to 20x your bet.
The angler is the wild symbol, appearing in the bonus feature only and performing the usual substitution duties. The special fish symbols have also made it through the makeover. In the base game, they will award line pays like any other symbol, peaking at 10x your bet when six land across the reels. During the feature they will award extra coins wins when the angler lands on the reels.
Fishing Frenzy Megaways Free Spins Feature
There are two ways to trigger the bonus round. Either you cough up 100x bet to instantly enter the free spins by using the Feature Buy option. Or you wait to hit three to six scatters in one spin for 10 to 50 free spins. The key to big wins in the bonus round are the special fish symbols, which have now coins wins attached with values of 2x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x and 50x your bet. And you won’t need three in view to collect the coin prizes. Instead, the fisherman will now reel in all that are in view when he lands on a spin.
Now to the kicker that makes the difference to the original. If more than one fisherman appears on the spin, they will each collect the coin prizes from the special fish symbols. The maximum win in one free spin from the special symbols would be 1,250 times your bet with five fishermen wild on the reels together with five special wild symbols displaying a 50x bet coin win.
Final Verdict
We couldn’t help but the slot feels kinda dated. It looks a little like we took out an old pair of jeans from the wardrobe and cut it in a few places to give it a new look. At the end of the day, it is still the old pair. Plus, Blueprint made no effort to add maybe mystery symbols or other features to the gameplay that would differentiate the Megaways version from the original Fishin’ Frenzy slot. Overall, a rather lame effort to ride on the popularity of the original.
