Review
Dare to enter the haunted mansion on a full moon night on the slot from Quickspin. Ghost Glyph is a hilarious reel adventure for the creepy season where four comical ghosts will create mayhem on a 7×7 grid, each unveiling their own secret modifier that will help you enter the bonus game inside the mansion. Tumbling symbols, four Ghost Urn features and a Paranormality Meter can lead to wins of up to 2,260 times your bet.
Slot Details
Ghost Glyph is a 7×7 grid slot with cascading symbols and cluster pays. Wins are awarded for clusters of five or more matching symbols landing horizontally and/or vertically connected (more to that shortly). You can dare to enter the haunted house on desktop and mobile from 0.20 to 100 credits per spin. The game has medium to high volatility (4/5) with an RTP of 96.18% and an average hit rate of roughly 1:3 spins.
The first phase of the gameplay will bring you into the compound of the haunted mansion, sparsely lit by garden lamps and accompanied by a harrowing yet lively soundtrack. The blue ghost will invite you to follow him inside the mansion during the bonus feature where you will soon discover what secrets the ghosts have been hiding. The audio changes to an upbeat tune.
The pay symbols start at the low end with four coins marked with a star, a moon crescent, a skull and a spider web, awarding across the board 15x your bet for clusters of 15 or more symbols. They are complemented by green gems, red gems and shiny diamonds. Hit clusters of 15+ symbols to win 150x, 300x and 600x your stake respectively. A golden icon marked with ‘W’ is the wild symbol, substituting for all regular pay symbols except the Ghost Glyph. The latter is spawned on random positions once a winning cluster is removed and will play a significant role in triggering modifiers and features.
Ghost Glyph Slot Features
Welcome to the haunted mansion where comical ghosts roam across the grid to create mayhem and award a range of modifiers. Fans of Golden Glyph will have some clues on how it will all unfold. There is a lot going on and ss usual, we sorted it all in the best chronological order.
Core to the gameplay is still the Tumble Mechanic with 49 symbols dropping onto the 7×7 grid in every new game round. To score a winner, you will need to land clusters of five or more matching symbols connected horizontally and/or vertically. Any symbols that are part of a winning cluster are removed and the empty positions refilled we new symbols that tumble down from the top. The spin sequence continues as long as new winning clusters land after a tumble. All wins are accumulated and paid at the end of each round.
In turn, core to starting the spooky mayhem on the reels is the Ghost Glyph. Once winning symbols are removed, one glyph is spawned and placed in a random empty position before new symbols tumble down. Worth noting is that only one will be awarded even when you hit multiple winning clusters in a single tumble. Should the glyph become part of a winning cluster after the following tumble, then it will act as a wild symbol before the ghost will escape to activate the Ghost Urns one at a time at the top of the reels. Activating the Blue Ghost Urn marked with the key will trigger the bonus feature.
Five Ghost Urns are chosen in a random pattern before the start of every spin sequence with the Blue Ghost Urn always the final one. The urns are activated consecutively from left to right by hitting a winning cluster that contains a Ghost Glyph. Once no more wins occur after a tumble, the activated Ghost Urns are deployed in the order they are shown at the top of the reels with each applying a modifier to the reels.
- Yellow Ghost Urn: The yellow ghost will spawn 4 to 10 wilds and place them on random reel positions.
- Green Ghost Urn: The green ghost will choose one random low-value symbol and transform all instances into a different low-value symbol.
- Red Ghost Urn: The red ghost will remove all instances of a randomly chosen low-value and new symbols drop into the empty spaces.
- Blue Ghost Urn: The blue ghost will trigger 8 Free Spins or award +3 free spins when activated during the feature.
Once the Blue Ghost Urn is activated, all unused Ghost Glyphs are turned into wild symbols. No additional Ghost Glyphs will be awarded during the remaining tumbles of that spin, after which the game will lead into the bonus round. A Paranormality Meter will appear next to the Ghost Urns and your aim will be to fill it up as often as possible to level up and improve the Massive Wild feature that will trigger at the end of the free spins. Each winning tumble will add one point to the meter with eight points needed to level up once. In total, you can level up 22 times in a single bonus feature.
The Massive Wild feature will trigger after all free spins are used up and if you reached at least Level 1. If not, it is back to the base game. The feature will definitely conclude once the Massive Wilds have been removed and no new winning clusters occur. Here’s what happens on each level, obviously the higher you can get the better.
- Level 1: Spawns two 2×2 Haunted Wild symbols, which will guarantee a win and will then be instantly removed.
- Level 2: Spawns one 3×3 Colossal Wild symbol, which will guarantee a win and will then be instantly removed.
- Level 3 – 22: Increases the number of moves the 3×3 Colossal Wild does before it disappears, by 1 for each level. For example, on level 4 it will move three times to a new position on the grid with wins being evaluated and paid after each move.
Final Verdict
Ghost Glyph has all but one ingredient to become a real player favourite. The visuals and animations are stunning, the gameplay engaging with a comical touch and the bonus feature hilarious yet mostly profitable thanks to the massive wilds. What it is lacking, is a high win potential, although max 2,260 times your bet is surely a worthy treat on a Halloween night.
