Review
Delve into medieval Britain on the slot from Red Tiger Gaming. Legendary Excalibur is an hommage to the mighty King Arthur and his fabled sword that dominates to this day the British literature and history of the 5th and 6th centuries. Expanding wilds and respins with sticky wilds on a pay-both-ways reel set can lead to wins in excess of 500 times your bet in a single spin.
Slot Preview
Legendary Excalibur is a video slot with five reels, three rows and 10 fixed pay lines. Wins are awarded both ways for three to five matching symbols from left to right and from right to left. Available on desktop or mobile, you can bet from 0.10 to 100 credits per spin. The game has medium volatility (3/5) with an estimated RTP of 95.80%. At press time, we didn’t have the full game sheet at our disposal but rest assured that we will update the review as soon as possible.
The Arthurian-themed game comes with a medieval castle chamber in the background of the gold-ornamented game window. A variety of items associated with the legendary king at the centre of what became later known as the Matter of Britain dominate on the reels. Intense lightning and dramatic crescendos of an otherwise epic medieval soundtrack trigger the soon the mighty Excalibur lands on a spin.
The pay symbols start at the low end with the card royals from 10 through to A, followed by red roses, goblets, helmets and King Arthur himself. The fabled Excalibur sword is the wild and top payer with 50x your bet for a single five of a kind. It will expand when it lands on a reel and substitute for all pay symbols. An intricate icon marked with the word itself is the second wild which will appear during the respins only. There are no scatters or bonus symbols on this slot.
Legendary Excalibur Slot Features
Countless tales and legends have been told and written in what is today known as a major body of medieval literature surrounding the events of that period, particularly with regards to the reign of King Arthur. Fast forward to our modern times, we can feast on an immense number of movies, TV series and stage shows which centre on the legendary king and his mighty sword Excalibur. The popularity has not escaped slot makers either as the dozens of titles with an Arthurian theme found in casino lobbies today prove.
Legendary Excalibur is Red Tiger’s take on the legends and they decided to go for fast-paced gameplay with few but intense features. What they seem to have forgotten though is to give it a decent win potential, which peaks at just over 500 times your bet.
As expected, the action on the reels centres around the mighty Excalibur wild. Any landing in partial view will expand to cover the reel, providing more chances to score a win. Not only that, once expanded it will trigger the Wild Respin feature to potentially land more wilds and improve your winnings. The feature will also activate if the sword lands in full view on a spin.
The reels will darken and a respin starts with only wilds dashing through the screen. Any landing will stick as an overlay to the existing symbol. Another respin is awarded, should more Excalibur wilds land in partial or full view. The process is repeated until now new Excalibur wilds appear or the screen is filled with expanded wilds. A full screen is will yield the top pay of 500 times your bet. Any potential wins from the triggering spin will be added to the final amount.
Final Verdict
Not really sure how to rate this creation. It doesn’t come across as the finest and most exciting slot we have seen from Red Tiger Gaming. I would venture to say that it appears like one of the weakest with regards to win potential and bonus features. King Arthur was a mighty figure in medieval Britain and certainly deserves more than that. Overall, it is a playable slot that comes with a math and volatility profile geared towards giving more playtime instead of delivering mega wins. Questionable whether that will lure hardcore slotters to spin the reels on this game.
